The Darkness Cacao Coffee Bitters

* Note: In our recipes, 1 dropper refers to the natural amount of liquid the dropper draws, about 1/4-1/3 full, not a full dropper.

1 dropper is also equivalent to 1 dash from a shaker bottle of bitters, which is used in most recipes.

 

Sutherland

20 ml Cognac

20 ml Ramazzotti Amaro

20 ml Amaro Montenegro

5 ml Cynar

1 dropper Apothecary Bitters The Darkness bitters

 

1 brandied cherry

Add Cognac, Ramazzotti, Montenegro and The Darkness to a mixing glass with ice and stir.

Strain into a chilled coupe and float the Cynar on top. Drop in cherry.

 

 

 

Shadow of the Sun

 

1.5 oz (45 ml) bourbon (Woodford Reserve)

0.5 oz (15 ml) Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao

0.25 oz (7.5 ml) cinnamon simple syrup*

4 droppers Apothecary Bitters The Darkness bitters

 

Orange twist, for garnish

Add bourbon, Cointreau, cinnamon simple syrup and The Darkness to a mixing glass with ice. Stir well, then strain into a chilled coupe.

Twist the orange peel over the drink, rub the rim of the glass, then drop it in as a garnish.

 

*To make cinnamon simple syrup, combine in a small saucepan over medium-low heat:

1 cup water, 1 cup brown sugar and 1 stick of cinnamon.

Stir frequently until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and let steep for 15 minutes. Cool and strain. Keep refrigerated.

 

 

 

Gutierrez

1.5 oz Bulliet bourbon

0.5 oz mezcal (Los Siete)

0.5 oz chocolate liqueur

3 droppers Apothecary Bitters The Darkness bitters

5 sprigs of mint

Add chocolate liqueur, The Darkness and 4 sprigs of mint to a mixing glass and muddle.

Add Bulliet, mezcal and ice to mixing glass, stir well and then strain into a chilled chilled old fashioned glass, filled with ice.

Garnish with a sprig of mint that has been bruised.

 

 

 

The Mirkwood

1.5 oz (45 ml) Flor de Cana 5 yr

0.5 oz (15 ml) Averna

2 tsp (10 ml) Luxardo Cherry

1 dropper Apothecary Bitters Spirit Fire bitters

1 dropper Apothecary Bitters The Darkness bitters

Add Flor de Cana, Averna, Luxardo Cherry, Spirit Fire and The Darkness to a mixing glass with ice. Stir well, then strain into a chilled coupe.
