Barrel Aging Program:
As whisk(e)y connoisseurs, we love all things barrel aged at The Apothecary Bitters Company and that applies to our bitters as well.
We love the depth and complexity that wood adds to bitters, especially when it's previously held a complimentary spirit.
We're planning on putting a few secret flavors into bourbon barrels soon, with plans to expand to other used barrels in the future as well.
Keep an eye on this page or better yet, follow us on Facebook for updates on what we've got in the wood.
Trade Wind Orange Bitters - And on that day in 1493, we set sail...
This limited edition orange bitters was aged in American oak barrels that previously held bourbon from Woodenville whiskey, rounding them out and adding a lot of complexity and warmth.
These orange bitters have a robust, fresh orange profile with hints of baking spice, brown sugar, vanilla, oak and a solid bitterness. Only 150 bottles were produced.
Spirits: Any and all spirits.
Ideas: A Martini, Manhattan or Negroni.
Tasting Notes: Aroma notes of fresh orange, allspice, vanilla and wood..
Taste follows with fresh orange zest, a woody bitterness, baking spice, vanilla and candied orange peel.
General Ambrose's Aromatic Bitters - For with these bitters, the battle was won...
This limited edition version of our aromatic bitters is aged in American oak barrels that previously
held bourbon from Woodenville Whiskey, adding further complexity, depth and flavor to these already fantastic bitters. The vanilla and brown sugar notes from the oak really bring out the cinnamon and apricot in our aromatic bitters while also rounding them out, giving an extremely smooth and rich final product.
Spirits: These work well in place of any aromatic bitters and therefore any spirit, but they are especially good with bourbon or rye.
Ideas: Try them in an Old Fashioned or a Manhattan to let them shine.
Tasting Notes: Aroma notes of vanilla, apricot, dark spices, orange and brown sugar.
Taste follows with dried fruit, a woody bitterness, orange, vanilla, cinnamon and oak.
